The Secret Within “The Secret”

Although the “Law of Attraction” itself is not a secret, I did discover that there were actually 2 versions of the movie “The Secret”. I was intrigued that the original movie included the teachings of “Abraham” through Ester Hicks – the footage of which was then edited out to produce a more commercial, marketable bestseller that most people could relate to and understand.

In order to get some clarity, I felt it necessary to highlight the subtle difference in the 2 versions and why ‘The secret”, for the most part, is still actually a secret!

The basic “Law of Attraction” according to the movie is;

 the ability to attract into our lives whatever we are focusing on. It is believed that regardless of age, nationality or religious belief, we are all susceptible to the laws which govern the Universe,..

The idea is that essentially – you get what you want!

According to the teachings of Abraham –

One must achieve, first, the vibrational essence of your desire – and then, through the crack of least resistance the manifestation will be delivered… work on the essence of the feeling of freedom; work on the essence of the feeling of empowerment- work on the essence of the feeling of Well-Being…

The idea is that essentially – you get what you are!

The original version presented the idea that we are source energy in physical bodies – an understanding which fascinated me and that could only be bought to life through the dedication and teachings of Abraham-Hicks.

This idea of the non-physical and the suggestion that we are vibrational beings may have been the guidance that was sidelined in the movie. If this is true, ‘the Universe does not know whether the vibration you are offering is because of something you are observing, or something you are remembering or something that you are imagining. It just receives the vibration and answers it with things that match it.

Dr. Wayne Deyer also agreed that to become truly in touch with your inner self and realize the full potential of your being – you need to first come into alignment with your source, with God (The Universal Source).

His core message for almost 40 years was ‘You are the same as your source. You are God. Because you come from God, you cannot be anything but God.’ All of his teachings are based on helping people realize this fundamental truth and overcome obstacles to living lives that fully recognize it. 

As with divine timing – a good teacher understands where his student is and it seemed fortuitous that I would be exposed to these principles and make sense of perceptions that would be the backbone to my transformation.

I knew that I was experiencing a shift and affirmed this by recognizing that

‘I am pure spirit, that I always have been, and that I always will be – there is inside me a place of confidence and quietness and security where all things are known and understood’ – this is the Universal Mind – God of which I am a part and which responds to me as I ask of it…
