We each have our own personality traits, unique stories and views of the world, but there are certain, sometimes not so obvious Universal Principles that we all share and impact upon us. When the inner conditions can unfold organically (naturally and uninfluenced) then true growth takes place and this unleashes the infinite potential to achieve goals.
My Overall Style
The overall direction of each session, my style, leads you through a self-discovery process that involves understanding your environment and objectives, then working with the invisible, infallible laws that govern your life today. Of course, what will determine the specific coaching style used will depend on what outcomes you hope to achieve, and how you wish to get there.
I naturally work with a unique style derived from my own personal experiences as a teacher, mom, wife, business owner and carer. These experiences create a style that does combine aspects from transformational, holistic, spiritual, mindfulness, visualisation and performance coaching styles.
A bit about the styles that influence our overall coaching style
Spiritual and Intuitive Life-Coaching
Spiritual life-coaching helps you change your life by changing the way you operate on a deeper level. Rather than just examining your behaviours, habits, and goals, it digs into your deep-rooted beliefs, your connection to the divine, and you find yourself again. Intuitive coaching aims to help you access and develop your intuition. It follows the principles and teachings of traditional life coaching – such as setting goals, creating action plans, as well as working on habits and beliefs – but, unlike traditional coaching, you are guided in a more spiritual way. Intuitive coaching enables you to answer some of life’s primary questions: Why I am here? Who do I want to become as a person in my lifetime? What do I want to create?
Intuitive coaching makes you realise, who you are in your core as a person, as a spiritual being, which further leads you to discover your true purpose in life. By gauging your energy and emphasising emotional and spiritual healing, intuitive coaching can help you release the blockages that keep you from moving forward.
Holistic Coaching and Universal Connectedness
Holistic coaching looks at the whole of you. This approach works on the basis that to address one issue, all issues surrounding it or connected to it in any way must also be addressed. This is because everything rests in a web of interconnectedness, i.e. everything has a cause, and everything has a ripple effect. When we change one aspect of our lives, all others invariably shift too. We will look at your whole life – from their physical well-being to the state of your social life in order to help achieve a peaceful equilibrium. We’ll aim for a better understanding of how our actions affect the world, greater sense of purpose, a healthier body, mind and soul, a calmer disposition, greater satisfaction from the small things in life. This approach is especially beneficial when addressing work/life balance.
Mindfulness Coaching and Meditation
Mindfulness coaching helps you develop calmer, more enlightened approaches to many aspects of life, such as eating, sleeping, walking, conversation and more. ‘Mindfulness’ refers to a heightened state of awareness – of the self and of the world surrounding the self. This helps you develop better relations, reduce tensions, improve reactions to stressful situations, empathise with others, increase concentration and attention span, achieve a healthier work/life balance. This coaching approach can be especially useful for clients suffering from stress, anxiety and depressive conditions. As the approach has a spiritual element to it, it can also be used with clients looking to explore their spirituality. Mindfulness coaching as it helps to improve focus and clarity.
Performance Coaching
Improvement is at the heart of life-coaching – and improved performance is at the heart of performance coaching. Whether you’re a student, a swimmer, a dancer, a trainer, or a performer, or an athlete, adopting specialist techniques will help you to push your limitations and exceed expectation. Performance coaching can help you to identify barriers to achieving your true potential, set practical, attainable goals, develop new skills, recognize and maximise your strengths, develop tools to overcome weaknesses. Performance coaching takes a more tailored and personally designed approach. Performance coaching adds value by helping the individual to address challenges specific to that person.
Performance coaching also looks to support a person’s performance by understanding other factors such as relationships and well-being. Performance coaching can look to address issues such as burnout and stress. Working with a good performance coach will challenge you, yet support you, enabling you to perform at your best, more often.
Transformational Coaching
Transformation coaching, as the name suggests, can assist those who want to undergo a big change, or changes, in their life. While the name may seem to indicate that is the person (and their actions) that will undergo a transformation, there is more of a focus on the person’s attitude and perception of themselves, rather than on their actions or behaviours. This might involve work around changing a person’s self-image, or perceptions about themselves and their limitations.
Not realising or achieving our dreams can have quite a negative effect on a person. Feeling as though you have not accomplished everything you set out to do in life can lead to disappointment and frustration – particularly if it is self-doubt or fear that is holding you back. But, by working on our self-belief and practising gratitude, this can give us the confidence to do what is needed to reach our goals and feel fulfilment.
This approach can help you if you want to change and are ready to uncover thoughts, beliefs and actions that create long-lasting, deep-rooted transformation. Transformational coaching can help you to courageously create the changes you seek, in order to stop feeling dissatisfied, restless and underperforming in your life or career.
Visualisation Coaching
Visualisation is a coaching style with an emphasis on bringing a good imagined future into the present moment. It sends s out a message to the universe and the what one asks for is received. Elite athletes and professional sports team use it all the time and attribute much of their success to the technique. It rests on the basis that the power of thought can be harnessed to shape the future. According to vision coaching theory, the more we focus our minds on a vision of an outcome we desire, the more likely it is that that outcome will occur. The process of visualisation goes way beyond just preparing the body for the task it is about to undertake, erasing feelings of self-doubt that might otherwise hinder progress by carving a path towards the desired outcome.
Inclusive Coaching
Inclusive coaching invites you to participate in the coaching process by encouraging one to adopt a ‘self-coaching’ attitude. My role in the approach is to outline the overall objectives but allow you to suggest how one might reach them. Although I might make the final decisions, I will base these decisions on your own opinions and feelings. The coaching-style encourages self-analysis, a sense of accountability, a sense of self-control, a sense of freedom, good decision-making skills that can be applied to everyday life. There are several areas that democratic coaching can be useful. Career coaching, for example, often benefits from this approach as it encourages the client to take control of their career path. Finance coaching is another example, as it prompts the client to have a sense of accountability.
Solution-Focused Coaching
Solution-focused coaching is concerned with what you want to achieve in the end. I will you about this goal in order to clarify your vision. What is it you really want? How are you going to get there? What happens once you do get there? Solution-focused coaching encourages introspection, self-evaluation, clear goal setting, a richer understanding of one’s own unique path in life. Setting clear goals and focusing on solutions can be very useful in business coaching, especially for entrepreneurs.
