Another Year Around the Sun – Siyabona…

Today is my daughter’s birthday, and I am reminded of her unwavering spirit as she navigates a range of emotions that have required creativity, flexibility, resilience, and perseverance.

I can certainly relate to her current existential thoughts, the grieving of a previous life and the deluge of feelings and responsibilities that are imminent as a first-time parent.

As she finds fulfilment in this new chapter of her life I wanted to acknowledge her African roots today and remind her that…

Siyabona – we see you!

This powerful Zulu word is a form of acknowledging and recognizing her existence. It is a way of expressing respect and showing her that I value her presence, and recognize her worth.

Siyabona is a powerful expression of love and respect in the Zulu culture. So what is the relevance? Have you ever considered that we are so caught up in the outer trappings of our physical reality that we fail to see the unique expression of the Divine in all of us – in other words, we don’t really see each other at all! 

As a mother, it is easy to slip into a world of self-neglect and perfection. Irrespective of our own needs and issues we continue to strive to get everything done for others and in an attempt to be all things to everyone, but this obligation can quickly become a breeding ground for resentment.

Essentially, we don’t recognise our own magnificence. 

If I knew then what I know now, parenting may have been very different. I have no regrets because I know that everything is just as it should be. As I think of my daughter today I know that she can feel the undeniable love in my heart and the immense gratitude for the role that she continues to play in the evolution of my soul.

May you always remember that today and always I DO see your magnificence…

I see how you have aligned your intentions with Divine Will. You are a child of infinite potential and there is an unwavering power that resides in the womb of your heart and the chalice of your mind.

Continue to observe your life with relaxed attention, listening to the guidance presented releasing any expectations and trusting that the course you are on is perfect for you!
